Tennessee's SDS Imports has something for all those VEPR 12 fans who have been down in the dumps about sanctions and four-figure prices, the new VP12 shotgun.

With a VEPR-style magazine well for all those Molot mags, the new SDS V12 hails from China and has lots of features including an automatic bolt hold-open-- a VEPR hallmark-- M-LOK rails on hand guard, a left-hand-side charging handle, and a four-position adjustable gas system that aids in cycling everything from low brass birdshot to full dram defensive and buck loads. It ships with a single 5-rounder mag.

The SDS V12 has a beaded sight on an externally threaded (M22x0.75 RH) 19-inch chrome-lined barrel with a 3-inch chamber. For those who want optics, it has a top M1913 rail on the hinged dust cover. (Photo: SDS Imports)

The gun uses a cold hammer-forged bolt, carrier, and trunnion and accepts AK-pattern grips and stocks.

Now the Chinese have been making AKs (well, Type 56s) for the past half-century, so they have the design figured out, and the VP12 feels great as a first impression when we came across it at the NRA Annual Meeting. (Photo: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

SDS has been bringing in a ton of good scattergatts over the years including a slightly different version of this gun in the form of the popular Lynx, a Saiga-ish 12 clone with a Bulgarian pattern side optic rail. MSRP on the VP12 is $489, which is close to the Lynx.
