Justin Marrero, 22, of Spring Valley is being held in the county jail on $15,000 bail on gun possession and assault charges.
WEST NYACK — A 22-year-old Spring Valley man threatened to shoot people during a weekend dispute
inside the Palisades Center, Clarkstown police said.
Justin Marrero allegedly pulled up his shirt to show off a handgun in his waistband during a
confrontation with another mall patron outside the Crocs store at 6:56 p.m. Saturday.
Officers spotted Marrero with another man, but both ran from the officers, Clarkstown Police
Lt. Daniel Weisberg said.
While running after Marrero, one officer lost his footing on an escalator, injuring his shoulder,
but kept going until he caught Marrero in the underground parking garage. The officer seized a
loaded .22 caliber revolver from Marrero, Weisberg said.
Police charged Marrero with felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a
weapon
and second-degree assault, misdemeanor counts of second-degree menacing and resisting
arrest, as well as a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Marrero remains in the county jail on $15,000 bail. He’s scheduled to return to court on
Wednesday.
