Poll: Americans Believe Concealed Carry Makes the Country Safer

A Gallup poll released on Tuesday shows that a majority of Americans believe concealed carry makes the United States safer.
The poll, conducted between Oct. 7 and Oct. 11, asked respondents “if more Americans carried concealed weapons, would the United States be safer or less safe?”
Fifty-six percent said the United States would be safer. Forty-one percent said the country would be less safe. 3% had no opinion.
The pro-gun results mirror another recent Gallup poll showing that most Americans believe guns are not too easy to get.
The poll also found that a majority of Americans, 86 percent, favor universal background checks. Only 12 percent of respondents oppose them. Two percent had no opinion.
However, most of those polled, 53 percent, believe universal background checks would do little or nothing to “reduce the number of mass shootings in the U.S.” Forty-seven percent believe universal background checks would do a moderate or great deal to reduce mass shootings.
