TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — Tampa police say they are investigating a break-in at Shooting Sports in which burglars appear to have entered the gun store by tearing a hole in the wall of the building.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says the break-in happened around 1:35 a.m. Thursday at Shooting Sports, a rifle and pistol range at 7811 North Dale Mabry Highway.
Law enforcement tells News Channel 8 at least 42 handguns were stolen.
Detectives say three unknown suspects wearing dark clothing broke into Shooting Sports through an exterior concrete wall. They smashed display cases in order to steal the guns.
The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. See photos below.
Tampa police say two other gun stores had alarms go off overnight, as well.
Police responded to Shooters World and Florida Firearms, both located in Tampa, but say they appear to only be attempted break-ins.
The investigation is ongoing.
